I find that one the the most common areas where clients tend to have questions – both in the classroom and when working at client sites – is related to automating the deployment of Windows 7. Everyone has questions about WAIK, MDT, and SCCM integration. I was planning to write a series of posts on the topic, but then I stumbled across this terrific series by Mitch Tulloch, Microsoft MVP and one of the authors of the Windows 7 Resource Kit. Check it out at http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles_tutorials/Deploying-Windows-7-Part1.html.
It’s a lot of reading, but well worth it. By the way, his series on Deploying Windows Vista is well worth the read as well, since it specifically addresses some concepts that were first introduced with Vista and would be assumed knowledge when deploying Windows 7. You can find his Vista posts at http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles_tutorials/Deploying-Vista-Understanding-Windows-AIK.html. Yes, I know, you are not deploying Vista, but without this foundation knowledge you likely will find his Windows 7 posts quite overwhelming.
